How Is Shopify Carbon Neutral?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 5:52 pm

Shopify is one of the biggest e-commerce platforms in the world. They have over 1,000,000 businesses using their platform to sell online. Shopify is also a publicly traded company, worth over $30 billion. So how does Shopify make sure that their platform is carbon neutral?

Shopify has partnered with 3Degrees, a renewable energy company, to help offset their carbon footprint. 3Degrees provides Shopify with Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) that offset the carbon footprint of Shopify’s data centers and office operations in the United States. In total, Shopify has offset over 5 million pounds of carbon dioxide.

PRO TIP: Shopify is carbon neutral, meaning that they do not contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. However, their products are not necessarily eco-friendly. Shopify does not guarantee that their products are made from sustainable materials or that they will not have a negative impact on the environment.

Shopify is also working on becoming more energy efficient. They have installed solar panels at their data center in Ottawa and are looking into other ways to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels.

In conclusion, Shopify is working hard to make sure that their platform is carbon neutral. By offsetting their carbon footprint and becoming more energy efficient, they are doing their part to help fight climate change.
