If you’re thinking about moving your website from Wix to WordPress, you might be wondering how long the process takes. While it depends on a few factors, in general, it shouldn’t take more than a few days to complete the transfer.

First, you’ll need to export your Wix site content. This can be done by going to your Wix dashboard and selecting “Export Site.”

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

Once you have your site content in a .zip file, you’ll need to upload it to your WordPress site. You can do this by going to your WordPress dashboard and selecting “Add New. ”

Now, you’ll need to install a few plugins to help with the transfer process. The first plugin you’ll need is the Wix Importer.

This plugin will help you import all of your Wix content, including posts, pages, and media files. The second plugin you’ll need is the Wix SEO Redirects plugin. This plugin will help redirect any traffic from your old Wix site to your new WordPress site.

Once you have installed both plugins, you’ll need to activate them. To do this, go to your WordPress dashboard and select “Plugins.”

Then, find the plugins in the list and click “Activate. ”

Now that both plugins are activated, you can begin the import process. To do this, go to your WordPress dashboard and select “Tools,” then “Import.” From there, select “Wix” as the platform you’re importing from.

PRO TIP: If you are considering transferring your domain from Wix to WordPress, be aware that it can take up to 72 hours for the transfer to complete. During this time, your website may be inaccessible. Once the transfer is complete, you will need to update your DNS settings to point to your new WordPress site.

The import process may take a few minutes, depending on how much content you have on your Wix site. Once it’s finished, you should see all of your Wix content in your WordPress site.

Now that your content is imported, it’s time to set up redirects. This will ensure that anyone who visits your old Wix site will be redirected to your new WordPress site.

To do this, go to your WordPress dashboard and select “Settings,” then “Permalinks.” From there, select “Wix SEO Redirects” as your redirect type.

Enter the URL of your old Wix site in the “From” field and the URL of your new WordPress site in the “To” field. Then click “Save Changes.”

That’s it! You’ve successfully transferred your website from Wix to WordPress.
