How many Azure regions are there?

Azure regions are geographic locations within the Azure cloud that offer different levels of service and capabilities. The Azure regions are listed below with their corresponding service offerings:

Standard region – This is the base level of service and offers limited capabilities. It is available in the United States and Canada.

West US region – This region offers enhanced performance and capabilities for applications that need to run in the western United States.

East US region – This region offers enhanced performance and capabilities for applications that need to run in the eastern United States.

Central US region – This region offers enhanced performance and capabilities for applications that need to run in the central United States.

PRO TIP: There is no definitive answer to this question as Microsoft Azure is constantly expanding and adding new regions. As of July 2020, there are 54 Azure regions announced, with more planned for the future.

South US region – This region offers enhanced performance and capabilities for applications that need to run in the southern United States.

Australia region – This region offers enhanced performance and capabilities for applications that need to run in Australia.

Japan region – This region offers enhanced performance and capabilities for applications that need to run in Japan.

China region – This region offers enhanced performance and capabilities for applications that need to run in China.
