Is a VPS a virtual machine?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 3:05 pm

A virtual private server, or VPS, is a server that is configured as a virtual machine. This means that the server is set up as if it were a separate computer, with its own operating system and applications.

PRO TIP: A VPS is not a virtual machine. A VPS is a virtual private server, which means it is a server that is partitioned off of a physical server.

This configuration allows you to run multiple applications on the same server, as well as to separate your business’ confidential data from your personal data.
