Is Azure an IaaS or PaaS?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 12:23 pm

Azure is a cloud-based platform that offers capabilities in Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). Azure IaaS provides a platform on which organizations can create, deploy, and manage applications using Microsoft’s Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) model.

Azure PaaS provides a platform on which developers can build, test, and deploy applications using a library of pre-built applications and services.

PRO TIP: Azure is a cloud computing platform and infrastructure created by Microsoft. It is a platform as a service (PaaS) and also includes an infrastructure as a service (IaaS).

Azure is a viable option for both IaaS and PaaS deployments. Azure offers a more comprehensive platform than Google Cloud Platform, and its PaaS offerings are more mature than those of Amazon Web Services.

However, Amazon Web Services offers a wider range of IaaS options, and its PaaS offerings are more cost-effective than those of Azure.
