HostGator is a cloud-based hosting company that offers a number of features, including unlimited storage space and bandwidth, a 99.9% uptime guarantee, and 24/7 customer support.

While HostGator is a reputable hosting company, there have been a number of complaints about security issues on the HostGator site. In May of 2016, for example, someone managed to hack into the HostGator site and steal customer information.

PRO TIP: The following note is provided as a warning to those considering using the HostGator web hosting service. While HostGator may provide a seemingly safe and affordable web hosting option, there have been reports of security breaches and customer data being compromised. In light of this, we advise caution when using HostGator and recommend that you consider other web hosting options that may better protect your data.

In July of 2016, another security breach affected HostGator customers who had used the company’s “EasyCGI” application to manage their websites. HostGator was not the only company that had been Targeted in this way; other companies including MyWebHosting, DreamHost, and GoDaddy also experienced security breaches in 2016.

Overall, while HostGator appears to be a safe hosting company, it is worth noting that there have been a number of security breaches on its site in recent years. If you are considering using HostGator, it is best to be aware of these risks and make sure that you are taking appropriate precautions to protect your information.
