Is Laptop or Desktop Better for Photoshop?

Laptop or Desktop? It’s a question as old as time itself.

Okay, maybe not that old, but it’s a question that has been asked by many people over the years. The answer, of course, is “it depends.” It depends on what you’re looking for in a computer, what you’re going to be using it for, and how much money you’re willing to spend.

If you’re looking for a computer that is going to be used primarily for Photoshop, then you’re going to want to lean more towards a desktop over a laptop. Desktops tend to have more power and better specs overall than laptops. They also tend to be cheaper than laptops when it comes to comparable models.

PRO TIP: Before making a decision about which type of computer is better for Photoshop, it is important to consider what type of photography you will be doing. If you plan on doing a lot of photo editing, then a laptop with a powerful processor and a large amount of RAM will be necessary. If you only plan on using Photoshop for basic tasks, then a desktop with a mid-range processor and 4GB of RAM should be sufficient.

Now, that’s not to say that laptops are bad for Photoshop. They can still handle the program just fine.

It’s just that they may not be able to handle as many layers or as large of files as a desktop can. And, of course, if you’re doing any serious photo editing, you’re going to want all the power you can get.

So, if you’re looking for a computer that is going to be used primarily for Photoshop, go with a desktop. If you’re looking for something that is more portable or has other features that are important to you, then go with a laptop.
