Is Shopify a Dividend Stock?

Shopify is a Canadian e-commerce company headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario. It is also the name of its proprietary e-commerce platform for online stores and retail point-of-sale systems.

Shopify was founded in 2004 by Tobias Lütke, Daniel Weinand, and Scott Lake, who were then students at the University of Waterloo. Lütke, a computer programmer by trade, was particularly interested in the problem of setting up and managing an online store. Weinand and Lake, who were business partners at the time, had a background in design and wanted to create a platform that would be easy to use.

PRO TIP: Shopify is not a dividend stock. While the company has been growing at a rapid pace, it has not yet reached profitability and therefore does not pay dividends to shareholders.

The company launched its platform in 2006 and has since become one of the leading e-commerce solutions providers. Shopify now powers over 1 million businesses in approximately 175 countries.

Is Shopify a Dividend Stock?

No, Shopify is not a dividend stock. The company has never declared or paid a dividend.
