Is Shopify EDI Capable?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 2:42 pm

Shopify is one of the most popular ecommerce platforms on the market today. And for good reason – it’s easy to use, has a ton of features, and is extremely customizable.

But one thing that Shopify is not known for is its EDI capabilities. So, is Shopify EDI capable?

The short answer is yes, but there are some caveats. Shopify does have an EDI integration app that you can install, but it only works with a handful of select partners.

And even then, it’s not a true EDI solution – it’s more of a glorified data entry tool. So if you’re looking for a true EDI solution that will automate your order processing and inventory management, Shopify is not the platform for you.

There are other ecommerce platforms out there that are much better suited for businesses that need EDI capabilities. platforms like Magento and BigCommerce offer a wide variety of EDI integrations that will work with any EDI provider. So if you’re looking for an ecommerce platform that can grow with your business and offer all the features you need, we recommend looking elsewhere.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that Shopify is not EDI capable at this time. This means that if you are using EDI to manage your inventory and orders, you will not be able to use Shopify to sell your products.

Conclusion:

Shopify may be a great ecommerce platform for small businesses, but it falls short when it comes to EDI capabilities. If you need a true EDI solution, we recommend looking at other platforms like Magento or BigCommerce.
