Is UpWork a Dividend Stock?

UpWork (NASDAQ: UPWK) is a publicly traded online freelancing platform headquartered in Mountain View, California. The company’s stock trades on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol “UPWK.” As of May 2019, UpWork had a market capitalization of $1.6 billion.

UpWork was founded in 2015 as a result of the merger of two companies, Elance and oDesk. Elance was founded in 1999 and oDesk was founded in 2003. UpWork is the largest freelancing platform in the world with over 20 million registered freelancers and over 5 million registered clients.

PRO TIP: Upwork is not a dividend stock.

UpWork went public in October 2018 at a price of $15 per share. The stock has since risen to a high of $26 per share, but has since pulled back to around $20 per share.

So is UpWork a dividend stock? No, UpWork does not currently pay a dividend. And given the company’s relatively young age and small size, it is unlikely that UpWork will start paying a dividend anytime soon.
