Is wireframe part of UX or UI?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 9:27 pm

Wireframes are often thought of as part of the user interface (UI), but they can just as easily be part of the user experience (UX). The distinction is a matter of focus.

A wireframe is typically focused on the look and feel of a page or application, while a user experience is focused on how a user interacts with the system.

PRO TIP: This question is often debated among designers and can be confusing. Wireframes are usually considered part of the UX (user experience) process, while UI (user interface) refers to the look and feel of the design.

Ultimately, the goal of a wireframe is to help designers create a better user experience. By creating a high-level picture of the interface, they can better understand how users will interact with the system and make necessary changes.

While a wireframe can be used as part of the user experience, it is not mandatory. A good user experience can still be created without a wireframe.

It all depends on the specific project and what is necessary to achieve the desired outcome.
