Is WordPress ADA compliant?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 12:47 am

There is no easy answer when it comes to WordPress’ ADA compliance. While the WordPress core is built with accessibility in mind, the WordPress plugin and theme ecosystem is vast and varied.

In some cases, third-party plugins and themes may not be ADA compliant, and even if they are, the implementation may not be perfect.

PRO TIP: While WordPress is a popular platform for creating websites, it is important to be aware that it is not automatically ADA compliant. This means that if you are using WordPress to create a website, you will need to take extra steps to ensure that your site meets the accessibility standards required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. Failure to do so could result in your site being inaccessible to individuals with disabilities, and could also lead to legal action.

That being said, WordPress is an excellent platform for creating accessible websites. The WordPress Codex offers detailed documentation on how to create accessible websites with WordPress, and the community is always willing to help out.

If you’re looking to create a website that is accessible to all, WordPress is a great option.
