Should You Put UpWork on Your Resume?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 11:05 am

There’s no doubt that UpWork is one of the most popular freelancing platforms out there. But when it comes to your resume, should you really be putting UpWork on there?

On one hand, it can show that you’re proactive and have a strong work ethic. After all, freelancing can be a great way to make some extra money or even start a new career.

PRO TIP: If you are considering listing Upwork on your resume, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, because Upwork is a freelancing platform, it may be viewed as less stable than a traditional job. Secondly, be sure to list your Upwork experiences in a way that highlights your skills and achievements. For example, instead of simply listing “Upwork Client X,” try “Upwork Client X – Designed and implemented a successful social media campaign.”

On the other hand, listing UpWork on your resume could make you look unprofessional or like you’re not really committed to a single employer. It might also raise questions about the quality of your work if you’re applying for a more traditional job.

So what’s the verdict? Should you put UpWork on your resume?

Ultimately, the decision is up to you.
If you think that including your UpWork experience will bolster your application and make you look like a well-rounded candidate, then go for it. However, if you’re not sure whether it will reflect positively or negatively on your application, it might be best to leave it off.
