What are Azure AD roles?

Azure AD roles are a way to group and manage the access to resources in Azure AD. They provide a way for administrators to create and manage security policies that govern the access to resources by users in their organization.

There are three types of Azure AD roles:

Provisioning role : The provisioning role is used to create, delete, or manage Azure AD identities. It is also used to manage password reset requests.

Identity management role : The identity management role is used to manage user identities and access permissions.

Users are assigned a role by an administrator. Users with the appropriate role permissions can access the resources that are assigned to the role.
