What Are Customer Tags in Shopify?

Shopify’s customer tags feature allows you to tag customers with specific labels so you can segment them based on certain criteria. This is useful for Targeted marketing and other purposes.

There are two types of customer tags in Shopify: automatic and manual. Automatic tags are generated based on certain criteria that you specify, such as whether or not a customer has made a purchase. Manual tags are ones that you assign yourself.

However, if used incorrectly, they can result in customers feeling segmented and targeted in a negative way. Use customer tags wisely and sparingly, and make sure to always keep the customer experience in mind.

You can create as many customer tags as you like, and each tag can have multiple values. For example, you could create a tag called “Interests” with values such as “Sports” and “Fashion.”

To view and manage your customer tags, go to the Customers page of your Shopify admin. From there, you can create new tags, edit existing ones, and assign tags to customers.
