What Are WooCommerce Scheduled Actions?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 2:28 pm

Scheduled Actions in WooCommerce are a great way to automate common tasks, such as sending out email notifications or generating reports. They can be used to schedule any action that can be performed via the WooCommerce REST API.

Scheduled Actions are set up using the WordPress Cron system. This means that they will only run when someone visits your site. If no one visits your site for a while, then the scheduled action will not run until someone visits again.

To set up a Scheduled Action, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Scheduled Actions and click on the Add Action button.

PRO TIP: Scheduled Actions in WooCommerce are actions that are set to happen at a specific time or day. This could be something like sending an email to customers, or creating a new product. WooCommerce Scheduled Actions are made up of two parts:

1) The Action itself – this is the code that will be executed at the specified time.
2) The Schedule – this is when the Action will be executed.

If you are not familiar with code, or if you are not comfortable with setting up Schedules, then it is best to not use this feature. If you do use it, please make sure that you understand what you are doing, and test your Schedules thoroughly before setting them live.

Here you will need to specify a name for the action, a description, the frequency at which it should run and the number of times it should run. You can also specify whether it should run on specific days of the week or month.

Once you have specified all the settings for the action, click on the Save Action button.

The next time someone visits your site, the Scheduled Action will be triggered and will start running according to the schedule you have set.
