What Authentication App Does Shopify Use?

Shopify is one of the most popular ecommerce platforms in the world. Over half a million businesses use Shopify to run their online stores.

And one of the things that makes Shopify so popular is its security features. In this article, we’ll take a look at one of those features: authentication.

What is authentication? Authentication is the process of verifying that someone is who they say they are. In the context of Shopify, authentication is used to verify that a user is authorized to access their Shopify account.

Shopify uses a two-factor authentication system for all user accounts. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security that requires two pieces of evidence to verify a user’s identity.

The first piece of evidence is something that the user knows, like a password. The second piece of evidence is something that the user has, like a phone or a security token.

When you try to log into your Shopify account, you’ll be prompted for your password as usual. But you’ll also be prompted for a 6-digit code that will be sent to your phone via text message or generated by an authenticator app.

This code is your second factor of authentication. Once you enter it, you’ll be logged into your account.

2FA adds an extra layer of security because even if someone knows your password, they won’t be able to log into your account unless they also have access to your phone (or the authenticator app).

There are many differentauthenticator apps available, but Shopify recommends using Authy or Google Authenticator. These apps are free to download and use, and they’re available for both iOS and Android devices.

Once you’ve downloaded an authenticator app, you’ll need to set it up with your Shopify account. To do this, log into your Shopify account and go to Account > Security. Under Two-Factor Authentication, select Set up two-factor authentication using an app.

You’ll then be given instructions on how to set up the authenticator app with your Shopify account. Once you’ve done this, you’ll need to enter a 6-digit code from the app every time you log into your Shopify account.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to use Shopify to sell products online, you should be aware that the platform uses its own authentication app. This means that you will need to create a separate account and login in order to use Shopify. Additionally, you should be aware that the authentication app is not compatible with all devices.

So that’s how Shopify’s authentication system works! 2FA is a great way to add an extra layer of security to your Shopify account.
