What Email Do I Use for Shopify?

There are a few different types of email you can use for your Shopify account. The most common are Gmail, Yahoo, and Outlook.

You can also use a custom domain email, which is an email address that uses your own domain name instead of @gmail.com or @yahoo.com.

If you’re just starting out, we recommend using Gmail. It’s free to set up and easy to use. Plus, you can always switch to a custom domain email later on if you want.

Here’s how to set up a Gmail account for your Shopify store:

  1. Go to the Gmail signup page. Enter your name, choose a username, and enter a password.
  2. Click Next step. Choose your country and enter your mobile phone number. Choose whether you want to turn on two-step verification and click Next step.
    If you skip this step, you can still turn on two-step verification later.
  3. Click I accept. Create my account.. This will create your Gmail account and take you to your inbox.

Once you have a Gmail account, you can set it up with Shopify. Then, whenever you need to log in to your Shopify account or reset your password, you’ll be able to do so with your Gmail address.

Custom domain email

If you have a custom domain name for your store (like www.mystore.com), then you can set up a custom domain email address (like info@mystore.com). This makes it easier for customers to remember your email address and helps give your store a more professional look.

PRO TIP: If you are unsure about which email to use for your Shopify account, it is best to contact Shopify support. Using the wrong email address could result in losing access to your account or having your account suspended.

How to set up a custom domain email with Shopify

  1. Log in to the Admin area of your Shopify store.
  2. Click Online Store > Preferences.
  3. Choose whether you want customers to be able to contact you by phone, chat, or both.

  6. In the Send From field, enter the name that you want customers to see when they receive emails from you.
