What Happens When You Duplicate a Squarespace Website?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 7:14 am

When you duplicate a Squarespace website, the following things happen:

1. Any pages, blog posts, products, events, galleries, and other content from the original site are copied over to the new site. This includes any images or files associated with that content.

2. Any settings from the original site, such as your domain name, site title, and social media links, are also copied over to the new site.

3.

Any code blocks or plugins you’ve added to the original site will need to be added to the new site as well.

4. The new site will have its own unique URL. You can choose to keep the same domain name as the original site, or you can select a new domain name for the new site.

When you duplicate a Squarespace website, you end up with an identical copy of the original site. This can be useful if you want to create a test site or if you want to make changes to your website without affecting the live version.

PRO TIP: If you duplicate a Squarespace website, any content that was not created by you will be removed. This includes pages, posts, images, and files.
