What Is a Draft Order in Shopify?

A draft order in Shopify is an order that’s created without any payments. Draft orders can be used to manually create orders for customers who have placed orders over the phone, by email, or in person.

Creating a draft order is similar to creating a regular order in Shopify. The only difference is that you don’t need to enter any payment information. This makes it easy to add products to an order and send it to a customer for them to pay later.

Draft orders can be created from the Orders page of your Shopify admin. To create a draft order:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Orders.
  2. Click Create draft order.
  3. In the Customer details section, enter the customer’s information.
  4. In the Shipping address section, enter the customer’s shipping address.
  5. In the Billing address section, enter the customer’s billing address.
  6. Click Save.

After you’ve saved the draft order, you can add products to it and send it to the customer. The customer will then need to complete their purchase by paying for the order.

Draft orders are a great way to manage orders that need to be placed manually. They’re also useful for keeping track of sales made offline or over the phone.
