What Is a Figma Library?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 8:41 pm

A figma library is a collection of design elements that can be reused in different projects. Libraries can contain anything from colors and typography to components and illustrations. They help keep your design system organized and make it easy to find the right asset for your next project.

There are two types of libraries: public and private. Public libraries are shared with the Figma community, while private libraries are only accessible to you and your collaborators. To create a library, go to File > New Library.

How to Use a Figma Library

To use an asset from a library, simply drag it from the library into your project. You can also preview assets by hovering over them in the library panel. To add an asset to your library, select it in your project and click the “Add to Library” button in the top-right corner of the properties panel.

Creating a Figma Library

You can create a Figma library by going to File > New > Library. This will open a new window where you can name your library and choose whether it’s public or private.

Once you’ve created your library, you can start adding assets to it.

PRO TIP: Figma Library is a powerful design tool that allows you to create and manage your design libraries in one place. However, it is important to note that Figma Library is only compatible with Figma Desktop and Figma Web. If you are using Figma Mobile, you will not be able to use Figma Library.
