What is AWS CDK?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 6:25 pm

AWS CDK is a platform as a service (PaaS) that enables developers to build, deploy, and manage applications using Amazon Web Services (AWS). CDK provides an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that includes a code editor, a project manager, and a build tool.

PRO TIP: The AWS CDK is a toolkit for defining cloud infrastructure in code and provisioning it through AWS CloudFormation. It is an open source project developed by Amazon Web Services and is available under the Apache 2.0 license.

While the AWS CDK can be used to define a wide range of infrastructure, including compute, storage, and networking resources, it focuses on provisioning cloud resources. As such, it is not intended to be used as a general-purpose programming language or toolkit.

Additionally, the AWS CDK is still in preview and subject to change. As such, it should not be used in production environments.

AWS CDK provides developers with a code editor, project manager, and build tool that make it easy to build and deploy applications using AWS. The code editor provides a WYSIWYG interface that makes it easy to write code and manage project dependencies.

The project manager helps developers track and manage their applications’ dependencies and builds. The build tool enables developers to deploy their applications to AWS using a single command.
