What Is Capture in Shopify?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 7:56 pm

In simple terms, capture in Shopify refers to the process of taking a payment for an order. This can be done manually by the merchant, or automatically through Shopify Payments.

When an order is placed in Shopify, the customer’s payment information is stored in what’s known as a Shopify vault. This is a secure location where sensitive data like credit card numbers are stored.

If the order is placed using Shopify Payments, the payment will be processed automatically and the funds will be captured at that time. If the order is placed using another payment method, the merchant will need to manually capture the payment.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Shopify, please be aware that capture in Shopify refers to the process of accepting payments for orders. This means that your customers’ credit card information will be stored in Shopify’s system and you will be responsible for processing the payments.

Please be sure that you are comfortable with this before using Shopify’s services. If you have any questions, please reach out to Shopify’s support team.

There are a few things to keep in mind when capturing payments in Shopify:

– All payments must be captured within 30 days of the original purchase date. – If using Shopify Payments, payments will be captured automatically.

Otherwise, you’ll need to do it manually from your Shopify admin. – Once a payment has been captured, it can’t be refunded.

Capturing payments is an important part of running a successful online store. By understanding how it works, you can ensure that your customers’ payments are processed quickly and smoothly.
