Cloud-init is a CLI utility for configuring and managing cloud configurations. It can be used to set up cloud services, create and manage cloud images, and perform other configuration tasks.

PRO TIP: Cloud-init is a set of tools that handle early initialization of a cloud instance. It is most often used in a virtual machine or a container that is booting in a cloud.

DigitalOcean is a cloud provider that offers cloud-init support. However, their implementation has some important differences from the upstream project. In particular, they use a different configuration format and they don’t support all of the features of cloud-init.

If you are using cloud-init on DigitalOcean, be sure to read their documentation carefully. Otherwise, you may find that your configuration doesn’t work as expected.

DigitalOcean is a cloud-based hosting provider that provides both compute and storage services. It offers a wide range of plans and features, including automated cloud-init configuration, performance monitoring, and a wide range of image types and sizes.
