When you set up a WooCommerce store, you’ll need to decide how you want to showcase and sell your products. Do you want to sell them individually, or in groups?
Do you want to upsell customers on related products, or offer them discounts for buying multiple items?
There are a few different ways to group products in WooCommerce:
- Simple Products: These are basic products that can be purchased individually. If you’re selling physical goods, like clothes or books, then simple products are probably what you’ll want to use.
- Grouped Products: These are products that can be purchased together in a group. For example, if you’re selling a set of dishes, you could group them together so customers can buy the whole set at once.
Grouped products can also be used to offer discounts on multiple items.
- Variable Products: These are products that come in different variations, like different sizes or colors. If you’re selling something that comes in different options, like shirts or shoes, then variable products are what you’ll need.
- External/Affiliate Products: These are products that you don’t physically sell yourself, but that customers can purchase through your website. For example, if you’re an Amazon affiliate, you could add links to Amazon products on your WooCommerce site.
Once you’ve decided what kind of product(s) you want to sell, it’s time to start setting up your store. In WooCommerce, there are two ways to add products: manually or using the CSV importer.
- To add products manually:
1. Go to WooCommerce > Products > Add Product. This will take you to the product page where you can enter all the relevant information about your product.
2. Enter a Product Name, and then click on the Product Data tab. Here you can select the product type (simple product, grouped product, etc. ), enter pricing information, shipping details, and more.
While cross-sells can be a great way to upsell customers on complementary products, they can also be a source of frustration if they are not relevant to the main product. If you are using cross-sells, be sure to carefully select products that will actually be useful to your customers, or you may risk turning them off from your store entirely.
3. Once you’ve entered all the relevant information about your product, click on the Publish button to make your product live on your website.
- To add products using the CSV importer:
1.
Go to WooCommerce > Products > CSV Import Suite. This will take you to the CSV importer page where you can upload your CSV file. Click on the Choose File button and select the CSV file from your computer. Then click on the Upload file and import button. On the next screen, map the columns from your CSV file to the appropriate fields in WooCommerce. Then click on the Continue.button.
4. On the next screen, choose how you want to handle duplicates (if any), and then click on the Continue.
5. Review your import settings one last time and then click on the “Submit” button.
