What Is Figma File Extension?

Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 1:15 am

Figma is a vector graphics editor and prototyping tool – the company calls it the first interface design tool with real-time collaboration. It’s available for macOS, Windows and Linux, and in a web browser.

The software is free to use for individuals, and there’s a Figma Organization plan for teams that starts at $12 per editor per month.

Figma files have the .fig extension. They’re saved in JSON format, which allows for easy integration with third-party tools and services. For example, you can export Figma designs to code using the React Native library.

PRO TIP: The Figma file extension is a proprietary file format used by the Figma application. Figma is a vector graphics editor and design tool that runs in the browser. The Figma file format is not compatible with other vector graphic editors, and only works with the Figma application.

When you open a Figma file, you’ll see a list of all the assets on the left-hand side. You can click on an asset to select it, and then use the toolbar at the top of the screen to edit it. Figma supports layers, so you can easily add or remove elements from your design.

To collaborate on a Figma file, simply click the Share button at the top of the screen. You can then invite other people to view or edit your design. When someone else is editing the file, you’ll see their cursor in real-time, which makes it easy to keep track of who’s doing what.
