What Is Save for Web in Photoshop?

In Photoshop, the “Save for Web” feature allows you to optimize your images for the web. This means that you can choose to save your image as a JPEG, GIF, or PNG file, and you can control the file size and quality of the image. The “Save for Web” feature is especially useful for reducing the file size of large images.

When you save an image for the web, you can choose to compress it as a JPEG, GIF, or PNG file. Each file type has its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, JPEG files are great for photos because they have a small file size and they don’t lose quality when they’re compressed.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Photoshop, Save for Web may cause unwanted changes to your images. Save for Web should only be used by experienced Photoshop users.

However, JPEG files don’t support transparency. On the other hand, GIF files do support transparency, but they have a larger file size. PNG files are somewhere in between JPEG and GIF in terms of file size and quality.

One of the great things about “Save for Web” is that you can see a preview of how your image will look at different levels of compression. This allows you to find the perfect balance between file size and quality. Once you’re happy with the settings, simply click “Save” and your image will be ready for the web!
