What is the difference between standard SSD and premium SSD in Azure?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 12:33 pm

Azure standard SSDs provide high performance and low latency for data storage, while Azure premium SSDs offer greater performance and durability for mission-critical workloads. Premium SSDs offer greater performance and durability when compared to standard SSDs due to their higher NAND flash capacity and faster read and write speeds.

PRO TIP: Standard SSD and premium SSD offer different levels of performance, with premium SSD offering higher levels of throughput, IOPS, and latency. Choose the appropriate storage type based on your application’s storage requirements.

Premium SSDs also provide greater resistance to wear and tear and can sustain multiple data writes per day.
