Where Are Files on Wix?

Last updated on January 3, 2023 @ 11:49 am

When you create a Wix site, you can upload different types of files to add rich content to your site. You can upload image files, video files, PDFs, and other document types. To add a file to your site:

  1. Click the Add (+) icon on the left side of the Editor.
  2. Click More.
  3. Click File.
  4. Select the file you want to upload from your computer.
  5. Click Open.
  6. The file will appear on your page. You can then move it around and edit it like any other element on your site.
PRO TIP: If you are looking for your Wix site’s files, be warned that they are not stored in the same place as other website files. Wix stores all of its site files on its own servers, so you will not be able to access them through your hosting account.

Files that you upload to your Wix site are stored in the Site Files section of your site’s dashboard. To access Site Files:

Note: You can only view files that have been added while working in Editor mode. To view all files in your Media Manager, including those added while working in Design mode or through My Photos, switch to Design mode.

If you plan on uploading a lot of files or if you have very large files, we recommend using an FTP client. For more information about FTP clients, see our FTP Client article.
