Where Are Photoshop Scripts?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 10:18 pm

Photoshop scripts are small programs that automate tasks in Photoshop. They can be written in either JavaScript or Adobe’s own ExtendScript language. Scripts can be used to perform simple tasks, such as resizing images, or more complex tasks, such as generating a contact sheet from a collection of images.

Photoshop scripts are stored in files with a “.js” or “.es” extension. When you double-click on a script file, it will open in your system’s default text editor. You can then edit the script and save it.

PRO TIP: If you are looking for Photoshop scripts, be warned that they are no longer supported by Adobe and have been discontinued. There are a few websites that still offer them for download, but be aware that these may not work with newer versions of Photoshop. Use at your own risk.

To run a script, open the File menu and choose “Scripts.” Then select the script you want to run from the list.

If the script requires input from you, a dialog box will appear. Follow the instructions in the dialog box and click “OK” when you’re done.

Photoshop scripts can be very useful for automating repetitive tasks. If you find yourself performing the same task over and over again in Photoshop, chances are there’s a script that can do it for you!
