Where Is the Master Component in Figma?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 8:45 pm

Figma is a vector graphics editor and design tool, developed by Dylan Field and Evan Wallace. Figma is used by designers to create vector illustrations, interface designs, wireframes, and prototypes. The software is available in a web-based application, as well as a desktop app for macOS and Windows.

Figma has been described as “the Google Docs of design”, due to its real-time collaboration features. Figma’s features include the ability to comment on individual elements of a design, version history, and automatic syncing with other design applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Sketch.

The Figma interface is divided into three main areas: the canvas, the toolbar, and the layers panel. The canvas is where designs are created.

The toolbar contains tools for creating and manipulating objects on the canvas. The layers panel contains a list of all the objects on the canvas, organized in a hierarchy.

PRO TIP: If you are looking for the master component in Figma, be warned that it is not always easy to find. Sometimes it is hidden away in a sub-folder or within a complex file structure. If you are having trouble finding it, try asking another designer or looking through the Figma forums for help.

One of Figma’s most unique features is its Master Component system. Master Components are reusable elements that can be updated across an entire design. For example, if a button style is updated in a Master Component, that change will be reflected in every instance of that component throughout the design.

The Master Component system makes it easy to keep designs consistent and helps reduce the amount of time spent making changes. However, it can be difficult to find the Master Component for an element in a design. This article will show you how to find the Master Component in Figma.

Instructions

1. Open the design in Figma that contains the element you want to find the Master Component for.

2. Select the element on the canvas or in the layers panel.

3. In the Inspector panel (on the right side of the screen), look for the “Master” section. The Master Component will be listed here.
