Where Is the Meta Description in Wix?

Last updated on January 8, 2023 @ 12:35 pm

A meta description is a brief summary of a web page’s contents. It is typically used by search engines to display a page’s title and description in search results.

The meta description is also used by social media platforms to generate preview text for links shared on their platforms. Wix does not have a dedicated field for meta descriptions, but there are a few ways to add one to your Wix site.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

The first way to add a meta description to your Wix site is through the <head> tag. The head tag is used to provide information about the document, such as the title, charset, and meta data. To add a meta description to your Wix site, simply add the following code to the head of your site’s code:

<meta name="description" content="Your meta description goes here">

Another way to add a meta description to your Wix site is through the use of the SEO Wizard. The SEO Wizard is a tool that helps you optimize your site for search engines.

PRO TIP: If you are using Wix to create a website, be aware that the meta description is not automatically generated. You will need to add this in yourself. Failure to do so could result in your website being less visible in search engine results pages.

To use the SEO Wizard, simply go to the settings tab and click on “SEO.” From there, you can add a meta description under the “Description” tab.

The final way to add a meta description to your Wix site is through the use of custom code. Custom code can be added to your Wix site through the use of the HTML element.

To add custom code, simply go to the settings tab and click on “Custom Code.” From there, you can add your custom code under the “Head” section.

Meta descriptions are an important part of SEO and can help improve your click-through rate from SERPs. While Wix does not have a dedicated field for them, there are still a few ways that you can add one to your site.
