Weebly was founded in 2006 by Guy Kawasaki and Paul Buchheit. Kawasaki is a former Apple executive, and Buchheit is a web designer and founder of Gmail. Weebly’s initial product was a website builder that allowed users to create their own websites free of charge. In 2007, Weebly acquired SiteBuilder, a website design software company, and in 2009, the company sold its website building product and began to focus on developing its platform for website design and management.
