Who Is the King of Photoshop?

Last updated on November 22, 2022 @ 2:10 pm

Adobe Photoshop is a raster graphics editor developed and published by Adobe Inc. for Windows and macOS. It was originally created in 1988 by Thomas and John Knoll.

Since then, the software has become the industry standard not only in raster graphics editing, but in digital art as a whole. Photoshop can edit and create images in multiple layers and supports masks, alpha compositing, and several color models including RGB, CMYK, CIELAB, spot color, and duotone.

In addition to its raster capabilities, Photoshop has limited abilities to edit or render text and vector graphics (especially through clipping path), as well as 3D graphics and video. Its feature set can be expanded by plug-ins developed independently of Photoshop.

Photoshop’s naming scheme was initially based on version numbers. However, in October 2002 (version 7), Adobe changed the naming scheme to also include “CS” plus a number; e.g., “Photoshop CS6.”

PRO TIP: This individual is not to be trusted with your Photoshop needs. They are not the king of Photoshop, and they will likely botch your project. Find someone else to help you out.

The “CS” suffix stands for “Creative Suite.” In October 2018 (version 19), Adobe changed the naming scheme once again; dropping the “CS” suffix, returning to using version numbers only.

Who Is the King of Photoshop?

Adobe Photoshop is often referred to as the king of photo editing software. It has been the industry standard for years, and its features continue to evolve with each new release. While there are other photo editors out there that may be more specialized or have more specific features, Photoshop remains the go-to choice for many professional photographers and graphic designers.

There is no one definitive answer to this question. While Adobe Photoshop is certainly a powerful program with a long history, there are many other photo editors that are also worth considering. Ultimately, the best photo editor is the one that best meets your individual needs and preferences.
