Why Did My Canvas Rotate in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 8:42 pm

There are a few reasons why your canvas may have rotated in Photoshop. One reason could be that you accidentally hit the rotate button while working on your project.

Another possibility is that you may have changed the image size or resolution, which can also cause the canvas to rotate. Lastly, it’s possible that a Photoshop update caused the rotation. If you’re not sure what caused the rotation, you can try resetting the workspace by going to Window > Workspace > Reset Essentials.

PRO TIP: If you are working in Photoshop and your canvas suddenly rotates, do not panic! This is a common issue that can be easily fixed. Simply go to the “Edit” menu and select “Undo Rotate Canvas.” This will undo the last rotation you made and return your canvas to its original orientation.

If you hit the rotate button by accident, you can simply undo the action by going to Edit > Undo Rotate Canvas. If your image size or resolution was changed, you can go to Image > Image Size and make sure that the width and height are both set to 100%. If none of these solutions work, it’s likely that a Photoshop update caused the issue and you’ll need to wait for Adobe to release a fix.

While it can be annoying to have your canvas rotate unexpectedly, fortunately there are a few easy solutions that should fix the problem.
