Why Does My WooCommerce Product Say Out of Stock?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 1:15 pm

If your WooCommerce product says “Out of Stock” it means that you have run out of inventory for that product. There are a few reasons this could happen:

1. You Sold Out of That Product

The most common reason a product would say “Out of Stock” is because you have sold out of inventory for that product. If you are selling physical goods, then this is to be expected from time to time. The best way to avoid this is to keep close track of your inventory levels and re-order products before you run completely out.

2. You Have the Product Set to “Manage Stock” But Have Not Entered a Stock Quantity

Another common reason for products to say “Out of Stock” is when the “Manage Stock” option is enabled but no stock quantity is entered. This can happen if you forget to enter a stock quantity when first setting up a product or if you change the “Manage Stock” option from “No” to “Yes” without entering a stock quantity.

PRO TIP: If you see the “Out of Stock” message on a WooCommerce product, it means that the product is no longer available for purchase. This could be because the product is no longer being manufactured, or because the supplier is out of stock.

To fix this, simply go to the product in question and enter a stock quantity under the “Inventory” tab.

3. The Product Is Out of Stock at Your Supplier

If you are selling physical goods and are sourcing them from a supplier, there may be times when your supplier runs out of stock for a particular product. When this happens, your product will also show as “Out of Stock” on your WooCommerce store.

The best way to avoid this is to stay in close communication with your suppliers and order products in advance so that you have plenty of time to receive them before they run out.
