Why Is My Squarespace Site Showing as Not Secure?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 10:02 am

There are a few reasons why your Squarespace site may be showing as “Not Secure.”

First, check to see if you have an SSL Certificate installed. SSL Certificates are required for all Squarespace sites, and you can install one for free through your Site Manager.

If you don’t have an SSL Certificate installed, your site will show as “Not Secure. ”

PRO TIP: If you are using Squarespace to build your website, you may have noticed that the site is now showing as “Not Secure.” This is because Squarespace has switched to using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption for all sites.

While this is a good thing from a security standpoint, it can cause problems if you are using certain features on your site that are not compatible with SSL. For example, if you have an e-commerce store, you will need to make sure that your checkout process is updated to use SSL. Otherwise, your customers’ credit card information could be at risk.

Similarly, if you are using any third-party tools or services on your Squarespace site, you will need to check with those providers to see if they support SSL. If not, you may need to find alternatives that do.

In short, if you are using Squarespace and your site is showing as “Not Secure,” don’t panic. But do take some time to check that everything on your site is still working as it should.

Another reason why your site may be showing as “Not Secure” is if you’re using any third-party scripts or embedded content that doesn’t have a valid SSL Certificate. Any scripts or embedded content from sources that don’t have a valid SSL Certificate will cause your site to show as “Not Secure.”
