Why Is My UpWork Profile Private?

Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 9:31 pm

There are a few reasons your UpWork profile may be private. One reason may be that you’re new to the platform and haven’t had a chance to complete your profile yet.

Another reason may be that you’re in the process of applying to jobs and don’t want your profile to be public until you’ve been hired.

If you’re not sure why your profile is private, you can check the privacy settings in your account settings. If your profile is set to private, it will say “This profile is private” at the top of your profile page.

PRO TIP: If you have made your profile private on Upwork, it means that only people who have been invited by you can see your profile. Your profile will not appear in search results, and other users will not be able to send you invitations. If you want to make your profile public again, simply go to your Settings and privacy page and click the “Edit” button next to “Profile visibility.”

There are a few reasons you might want to keep your profile private. For example, if you’re new to UpWork and haven’t had a chance to complete your profile yet, you might want to keep it private until you’re ready to apply for jobs.

Or, if you’re in the middle of applying for jobs, you might not want your profile to be public until you’ve been hired.

The most common reason for why someone’s UpWork profile would be private is because they are new to the platform and have not had a chance yet to fill out their entireprofile. By having aprivate setting, this allows them time to add more information such as job experience, skills, and other things potential employers would want to know about them before viewing their full profile.

Another possibility for why an UpWork profile might be set to private is because the user is actively looking for jobs and doesn’t want their current employer knowing they are job searching. Once they have landed a new job, they can go back into their settings and change their privacy setting back to public.
