Why is Squarespace cropping my images?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 10:45 pm

When you upload an image to Squarespace, it’s automatically cropped to fit the width and height of the box that the image is uploaded to. This can be a bit of a surprise, since the image may not look how you expected it to when it’s displayed on the website.

There are a few reasons why Squarespace might crop your image. The most likely reason is that the image is too wide or too tall for the space it’s being uploaded to.

PRO TIP: If you are using Squarespace to crop your images, be aware that this may result in unwanted distortion of your images. If possible, try to use an image editing program to crop your images instead.

Squarespace will try to fit the image as best as it can, but in some cases it might not be possible.

If you’re not happy with the way your image has been cropped, there are a few things you can do. You can try to resize the image before uploading it, or you can try to upload it to a different box on the website.
