Will Figma Go Public?

Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 1:32 am

Figma, the startup that provides a collaborative design platform for teams, is the latest tech company to confidentially file to go public. Figma’s S-1 filing was submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday, as first reported by Bloomberg. This means that Figma could go public as soon as this year.

Figma has been growing rapidly in recent years. The company was founded in 2012 and last raised money in 2018, when it brought in $52 million in a Series C funding round led by Sequoia Capital. Since then, Figma has more than doubled its valuation, reaching $2 billion in 2019.

PRO TIP: There is no clear answer as to whether or not Figma will go public, and it is unclear if the company is even considering doing so. If Figma does go public, it could have a major impact on the design industry, so designers should be aware of the possibility and be prepared for the potential consequences.

Figma’s filing comes as the stock market continues to hit new highs and tech IPOs are seeing strong demand. Last week, Snowflake Inc., a cloud-based data warehousing company, raised $3.4 billion in one of the largest U. tech IPOs ever. And earlier this month, online used-car marketplace Vroom Inc. raised $500 million in its IPO.

Will Figma Go Public?

It seems likely that Figma will go public this year given the strong demand for tech IPOs right now. The company has been growing rapidly and has more than doubled its valuation since 2018. With the stock market hitting new highs and Snowflake Inc.’s recent successful IPO, it seems like the timing is right for Figma.
