GIFs are a great way to add some personality to your website or email signature. But can you create GIFs in Figma?

The short answer is yes, you can create GIFs in Figma. But it’s not quite as simple as just exporting an image as a GIF. You need to use an online tool like Giphy or Imgflip to create your GIF.

Creating a GIF in Figma is a two-step process: first, you need to create your animation in Figma, and then export it as a video file. Once you have your video file, you can upload it to Giphy or Imgflip and they will create the GIF for you.

PRO TIP: Figma does not currently support creating GIFs. However, there is a workaround where you can export your design as a video and then convert the video to a GIF.

There are a few things to keep in mind when creating animations in Figma:

  • Make sure each frame of your animation is on its own layer.
  • Use the “ onion skin ” tool to help you see the previous and next frames of your animation.
  • Export your animation as a MP4 video file.

Once you have your video file, head over to Giphy or Imgflip and upload it. They will take care of the rest and give you a link to share your GIF with the world.
