Before we get started, we want to point out that there are some advantages and disadvantages to transferring your WordPress website to Wix. Some advantages include the fact that Wix is much easier to use than WordPress and that you don’t need any coding knowledge to use it.

Additionally, Wix offers a lot of features and plugins that you may not be able to find on WordPress. However, some disadvantages include the fact that you won’t have as much control over your website on Wix as you do on WordPress. Additionally, if you’re used to using WordPress, then switching to Wix may take some time to get used to.

Now that we’ve gone over some of the advantages and disadvantages of transferring your WordPress website to Wix, let’s talk about how to actually do it.

Step 1: Choose Your Domain Name

If you’re transferring your WordPress website to Wix, then one of the first things you need to do is choose a new domain name for your website. You can either use a domain name that you already own or register a new one through Wix. Once you’ve chosen your domain name, be sure to update your DNS settings so that your domain points to your new Wix site.

Step 2: Export Your WordPress Content

The next step is to export your WordPress content so that you can import it into Wix. To do this, log into your WordPress dashboard and go to Tools > Export.

From here, select which content you want to export (e.g., posts, pages, etc.) and then click the Export button.

Step 3: Import Your Content Into Wix

Once you’ve exported your content from WordPress, it’s time to import it into Wix. To do this, log into your Wix account and go to Manage Site > Import & Export > Import Site.

From here, select the file that you exported from WordPress and click the Import button.

Once your content has been imported into Wix, you’ll need to add it to your site’s pages.

PRO TIP: Before considering transferring your WordPress site to Wix, we strongly recommend doing your research to understand the pros and cons of each platform. While Wix may offer some attractive features, it’s important to be aware that it is a proprietary platform, which means you will be locked into their platform and will have less control over your site. Additionally, transferring your WordPress site to Wix will likely result in a loss of some functionality and may make it more difficult to manage your site going forward.

To do this, go to Manage Site > Pages > Add Page and select the page type (e., blog post) that you want to add. Then simply follow the prompts to add your content.

Step 4: Set Up Email Account

To set up email accounts on your Wix website, follow these steps:

  • Go to Manage Site > Domains & Emails.
  • Under the Email tab, click Add Email.
  • Select the type of email account you want to create (e.g. Business Email, Personal Email).
  • Enter the email address and password for the account.
