If you want to use a custom domain with your Squarespace site, you can! You can either purchase a domain through Squarespace or transfer an existing domain to Squarespace. If you purchase a domain through Squarespace, we’ll automatically configure it for you. If you transfer an existing domain to Squarespace, you’ll need to update your DNS settings.

This means that if you ever want to switch back to using the free subdomain, you will need to delete your custom domain and start from scratch.
