Cropping is a basic photo editing technique that every photographer should know how to do. With cropping, you can remove unwanted elements from the edges of your photo, change the composition, and even make your subjects appear closer together. Cropping can be done in Photoshop with just a few clicks of the mouse.

To crop in Photoshop, first open your image file. Then, select the “Crop Tool” from the toolbar on the left side of the screen.

With the Crop Tool selected, click and drag around the area of the image that you want to keep. As you drag, you’ll see a rectangle appearing over the section of the photo that will be cropped. When you release the mouse button, the area outside of the rectangle will be cropped away.

PRO TIP: While it is possible to crop in Photoshop, it is not recommended. Cropping in Photoshop can lead to distorted images and can be very difficult to fix. If you are unsure about how to crop in Photoshop, it is best to ask someone for help or find a tutorial online.

If you want to further customize your crop, you can use the “Width” and “Height” fields in the options bar at the top of the screen. These fields let you input specific dimensions for your crop. For example, if you want to crop your image down to a square, you would enter the same value for both width and height.

Once you’re happy with your crop, press “Enter” or “Return” on your keyboard to apply it. And that’s all there is to it! Cropping is a quick and easy way to improve your photos in Photoshop.
