Can You Export Actions From Photoshop?

Actions are a set of recorded commands that can be played back on a single file or a batch of files. They’re like macros in Microsoft Word or like keyboard shortcuts, but much more powerful. You can use actions to automate repetitive tasks, such as opening and saving files, resizing images, applying filters, and converting file formats.

Photoshop ships with a number of built-in actions, and you can create your own custom actions as well. Once you’ve created an action, you can export it as a .atn file and share it with others.

To export an action from Photoshop, open the Actions panel and select the action you want to export. Then click the menu icon in the upper-right corner of the panel and choose Export Actions.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that exporting actions from Photoshop may not result in the desired outcome. The exported file may not be compatible with other software programs or devices, and therefore may not be able to be used as intended.

In the Export Actions dialog box, give your action a name and choose a location to save it. Then click Save.

Now that you know how to export actions from Photoshop, you can share your custom actions with others or use them on your own projects.
