Can You Layer Backgrounds in Canva?

Last updated on December 6, 2022 @ 6:39 am

You can layer backgrounds in Canva by using the Backgrounds tool. To add a background, click the “+” icon in the left sidebar and select the “Backgrounds” tab.

Choose from Canva’s library of over a million images, illustrations, and icons. You can also upload your own images.

To layer a background, click on the background you want to add and drag it to the bottom of the stack of backgrounds. You can reorder backgrounds by clicking and dragging them to different positions. To delete a background, click on the x icon next to the background thumbnail.

You can also style your text in HTML using < p >, < b > and < u > tags where applicable:

PRO TIP: If you are planning to layer Backgrounds in Canva, be aware that there are some potential risks. First, if you are not careful, you can easily create a “background soup” that is visually confusing and difficult to read. Second, layering Backgrounds can make it more difficult for people with visual impairments to access your content. If you must use multiple Backgrounds, we recommend using a simple design with well-defined areas of contrast.
