Emotes are a great way to communicate with your friends and followers on social media, but did you know that you can make your own? You don’t need to be a professional artist or graphic designer to create custom emotes – all you need is a little bit of creativity and Photoshop.
In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to create three different types of emotes: a cartoon character, a simple icon, and a text-based emoticon. We’ll also give you some tips on how to optimize your emotes for use on social media platforms like Twitch and Discord.
Creating a Cartoon Character Emote
The first type of emote we’ll be creating is a cartoon character. For this emote, we’ll be using the “Create a Character” tool in Photoshop.
Open Photoshop and select the “Create a Character” tool from the toolbar. You can find this tool under the “Text” menu.
Now it’s time to start drawing your character. If you’re not confident in your drawing abilities, don’t worry – you can always use reference images to help you out. Just make sure that you don’t copy someone else’s work directly.
Once you’re happy with your character, it’s time to add some color. You can do this by selecting the “Add Color” tool from the toolbar. Again, you can find this tool under the “Text” menu.
Now simply click on each area of your character that you want to color. A color picker will appear so that you can choose the perfect hue for your emote. Once you’re happy with the colors, click “OK” to apply them.
Your cartoon character emote is now complete! Just save it as a PNG file and it’s ready for use on any social media platform.
Creating a Simple Icon Emote
The second type of emote we’ll be creating is a simple icon. For this emote, we’ll be using the “Custom Shape” tool in Photoshop.
Please be advised that creating emotes in Photoshop may result in subpar quality emotes. For the best results, we recommend using a professional emotes creation tool.
Open Photoshop and select the “Custom Shape” tool from the toolbar. You can find this tool under the “Shapes” menu.
Now it’s time to choose the shape for your icon emote. There are literally thousands of different shapes to choose from, so take your time and experiment until you find one that you like. Once you’ve found the perfect shape, simply click and drag it onto your canvas.
Now it’s time to add some color to your icon. You can do this by selecting the “Fill” tool from the toolbar.
Again, you can find this tool under the “Shapes” menu.” Now simply click on your icon and choose a color from the color picker. Once you’re happy with the color, click “OK” to apply it.”
