There are many ways to style text on the web. One popular way is to use gradient text. You can create gradient text in Canva by using the “Elements” tool.
First, go to the “Elements” tab on the left menu and type the description of the color you want to use for the gradient. Once done, press “Enter” on your keyboard, click on the “Photos” tab, then select from the results.
Now, set your element as the background of your canvas. To do this, right-click on the element and select the “Set image as background” option.
For the next step, select the text that you want to style with the gradient element. From there, click on the three dots at the top-right corner and select “Transparency”, then adjust it to 40.
Now that you have your gradient element and text, put it together in such a way that the gradient effect is noticeable from the text.
After this, click the “Share” button at the top-right corner and select “Download”.
From the file type options, select “PNG” and then click on “Download”.
After downloading the design, you need to upload it again into Canva. For that, select the “Uploads” tab from the left menu, then click on “Images”. From there, click on the “Upload files” button.
Browse for the design you saved earlier and click “Open” to upload it.
Once done uploading, click on it to insert it in your canvas.
Now we have to separate the text from the background and we will use the “Background Remover” tool for this. To apply this, click on the image you uploaded, then go to the “Edit image” option at the top-left corner and select the “Background Remover” tool.
Now that the background is removed, we already have our gradient text! However, we can still improve the quality of our gradient text.
To make the colors of your gradient text more evident, go to “Edit image”, then click on “Adjust”.
From there, you can adjust the settings of your gradient text to your preference. For this example, we will set “Brightness” to -25, “Contrast” to 5, “Saturation” to 100, “Clarity” to 25, and “Shadows” to 50. Just scroll down to see the other settings.
Your gradient text is now ready!
If you are thinking about using Canva to create gradient text, be warned that there is no direct way to do this. Canva does not support any type of gradient effects, so your text will appear as a solid color. If you want to create gradient text, you will need to improvise just like the procedures above.
