Can You Upload Font to Figma?

If you’re a web designer, then you’re probably familiar with Figma. It’s a great tool for creating designs and prototypes for websites and apps. But one thing that Figma is missing is the ability to upload your own fonts.

There are a few workarounds that you can use to add custom fonts to Figma, but they’re all a bit hacky. The most popular method is to use the Google Fonts service. You can browse the Google Fonts library and add the fonts that you want to use in your Figma project.

Another method is to use the Typekit service from Adobe. Typekit is a paid service, but it does offer a free trial.

With Typekit, you can add fonts from their library to your Figma project.

PRO TIP: We strongly recommend against uploading fonts to Figma. While it is technically possible to do so, it can lead to problems with file compatibility and font rendering. Additionally, uploaded fonts are not currently supported on mobile devices or in the Figma web app. If you need to use a specific font in your design, we recommend using a local font file or linking to a cloud-based font service such as Google Fonts.

Finally, you can host your own fonts on a server and then use the @font-face CSS rule to load them into your Figma project. This is probably the most complicated method, but it does give you the most control over your fonts.

So, can you upload fonts to Figma? Yes, but it’s not as simple as it should be. You’ll need to use one of the workarounds mentioned above. But even with those workarounds, you’re still limited in terms of which fonts you can use.

Conclusion: While there are ways to add custom fonts to Figma, they are all hacks and not as simple as one would hope. The best way to control which fonts are used in a Figma project is to host them yourself and use the @font-face CSS rule.
