Can You Upload HTML to Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 4:22 am

One of the great things about Squarespace is that it offers users the ability to edit their site’s code. This means that you can add HTML code to Squarespace to customize your site beyond the options offered in the Style Editor. You can use HTML to add custom fonts, format text, and style other elements on your pages.

However, there are some limitations to what you can do with HTML in Squarespace. For example, you cannot use HTML to change the layout of your pages or add new page types.

PRO TIP: While you can technically upload HTML to Squarespace, it is not recommended. Squarespace is a drag-and-drop website builder that is designed to be user-friendly and requires no coding. Adding HTML code can break the Squarespace interface and cause problems with your website. If you are comfortable with coding, we recommend using a self-hosted platform like WordPress.

Additionally, Squarespace does not allow you to upload HTML files to your site. So if you want to use HTML to customize your Squarespace site, you’ll need to add the code directly to your pages.

In general, we recommend using Squarespace’s built-in options and tools to customize your site. However, if you’re comfortable working with code, HTML can be a great way to add customizations that aren’t possible with Squarespace’s tools alone.
